Mumbai runs about sixty kilometres north to south along two railway lines and one coast, and crossing it takes an hour even on a good day. Nobody in Borivali travels to Colaba for a shop, and nobody in Colaba goes to Powai for dinner. - Film City at Goregaon East covers about 520 acres and has been running since 1977
- Both national stock exchanges, the Reserve Bank and the market regulator are headquartered here
- SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis, Kotak, Union Bank, Bank of India and Central Bank of India are all run from Mumbai
- The Bharat Diamond Bourse spans about 20 acres and 26 towers, with 45,000 to 50,000 people a day
- Jawaharlal Nehru Port at Nhava Sheva is India’s largest container port
- Almost every Indian television network, advertising agency and music label is run from this city
