Reserve Bank of India
Fort and Horniman Circle
The Reserve Bank of India is the country’s central bank, set up in 1935 under the Reserve Bank of India Act and nationalised in 1949.
Mumbai is India's banking capital. The Reserve Bank of India sits here, and so do the head offices of the State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Union Bank of India, Bank of India and Central Bank of India, along with the India head offices of the foreign banks and the country's payments infrastructure. The money market, the regulator and the corporate client base are all in the same few square kilometres, and the head offices followed them.
