Dhobi Talao is the triangle between Marine Lines, the Metro cinema junction and Crawford Market: the Goan and Mangalorean clubs and canteens that fed migrants for a century, Kyani & Co. among the oldest Irani cafes in the city, Furtados and the music shops, and the Catholic churches and schools of the old East Indian and Goan neighbourhood.
The tank the name refers to was filled in long ago; Metro Cinema, from 1938, is the landmark now.
