Mulund is the northern end of the eastern suburbs, at the Thane border: a largely Gujarati and Marathi residential suburb with the Sanjay Gandhi National Park on its western edge, the Thane creek on its eastern, the Fortis hospital, the R Mall, and the jewellers and farsan shops that it shares with Ghatkopar in character. The Eastern Express Highway runs through it to Thane.
Its cafes and the Ghatkopar-Mulund jewellery trade are on the dining and shopping pages.
