About Bandra station
The railway reached Bandra in 1864 and turned a Portuguese village into the Queen of the Suburbs within a generation.
The railway reached Bandra in 1864, and that is the single most important date in the suburb’s history: it turned a Portuguese and East Indian village into the Queen of the Suburbs within a generation.
The present station building is late nineteenth century and heritage-listed. It serves the Western and Harbour lines, and the chaos of the east-side exit is a long-standing civic complaint.
