About General Post Office
The city’s main post office, under a dome modelled on Bijapur’s Gol Gumbaz.
The city’s head post office, completed in 1913 to John Begg’s design, with a central dome modelled on the Gol Gumbaz at Bijapur. It sits beside CSMT and handles a large share of Mumbai’s mail.
It is a functioning post office: philatelic counter, parcels, speed post. The interior hall under the dome is worth going in for even if you have nothing to send.
