About IIT Bombay
Founded in 1958 with Soviet assistance, the second of the Indian Institutes of Technology, on a wooded campus beside Powai Lake. One of the two or three most selective engineering institutions in India; its alumni run a large share of the country’s technology companies.
The campus is a locality in its own right, and the reason Powai became an address: Hiranandani Gardens was built on the land beside it.
