About Mahakali Caves
Buddhist rock-cut caves, roughly first century BCE to sixth century CE. They were here two thousand years before anything else in this locality.
Nineteen Buddhist rock-cut caves at Andheri East, cut between roughly the first century BCE and the sixth century CE. Viharas and a chaitya, with inscriptions and some sculpture.
They were here two thousand years before anything else in this locality, and they are among the least visited ancient sites in the city — which, if you want to see them without a crowd, is the point. Protected by the Archaeological Survey of India.
