About Mount Mary Basilica
The Bandra Fair runs for a week after 8 September every year, drawing lakhs of people of every faith.
The Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount, on the hill at Bandra West. The present church dates from 1904, but the shrine and its statue go back to the Portuguese period.
The Bandra Fair runs for a week from the Sunday after 8 September, and it is one of the genuinely cross-community events in Mumbai — lakhs of people of every faith come up the hill, and the lanes fill with stalls selling wax offerings, sweets and toys.
