About University of Mumbai
One of India’s three oldest universities. The Rajabai Clock Tower and the Convocation Hall are on this campus.
Established in 1857, along with Calcutta and Madras, as one of the first three universities in India. The Fort campus holds the Convocation Hall and the Rajabai Clock Tower, built in the 1870s with a gift from Premchand Roychand in memory of his mother; the tower and the surrounding Victorian Gothic ensemble are part of the UNESCO-listed precinct.
Most teaching has moved to the Kalina campus at Santacruz, and the Fort campus now carries administration, the library and the convocation. Hundreds of affiliated colleges across Mumbai and the region sit under this university.
