Mumbai Port, the old Bombay Port Trust of 1873, runs the docks along the eastern waterfront — Indira Dock, Prince’s and Victoria Docks, the Jawahar Dweep oil berths and the Sewri and Haji Bunder bulk berths — from its head office at Ballard Estate. Containers moved across the harbour to Nhava Sheva; the port now handles oil, bulk cargo, cruise ships and the city’s ferries.
Its 1,800 acres of waterfront land are the subject of the city’s largest redevelopment debates.
