Bandra East is the eastern side of the railway: the government and MHADA housing colonies, Kalanagar with the Sahitya Sahawas writers’ colony where Sachin Tendulkar grew up, the Bandra Terminus for long-distance trains, and the approach to BKC. It has none of Bandra West’s reputation and most of its services — the family court, the collector’s office, the Shiv Sena headquarters at Matoshree.
BKC was built on the marsh beyond it, which is why the two are now one district on the map.
