Wadala is the eastern flank of the Dadar-Matunga-Wadala-Sion scheme: residential streets, the old salt pans that are now the city’s largest reserve of open land, the Bombay Port Trust housing, Antop Hill, and the Monorail. The IMAX dome and the Vidyalankar and VJTI engineering colleges are landmarks; the Wadala cha Raja is one of the larger Ganeshotsav mandals.
The salt-pan land is the subject of a long argument about whether it should be built on at all.
