About Lower Parel station
A suburban halt built for mill workers, now carrying an office crowd it was never sized for. The bridge west is the bottleneck.
A Western Line suburban halt built to carry mill workers, now carrying an office crowd several times larger than it was ever sized for.
The bridge on the west side is the known bottleneck; at peak hours the queue to leave the platform is the slowest part of the journey. Elphinstone Road, the station on the other side, was renamed Prabhadevi after the 2017 footbridge stampede there killed twenty-three people.
