Kurla is the junction where the Central and Harbour lines meet, and the industrial suburb that BKC was carved out of. Kurla West is the older part, dense and mixed; Kurla East runs along LBS Marg with the Phoenix Marketcity mall and the former Premier Automobiles land; the Kurla Kapda Bazaar sells cloth and readymades. The Mithi river separates it from BKC.
It is one of the busiest stations in the city and one of the least visited localities, which is roughly the point.
